Slide show, only the codes showing!

Q: Embedded slideshow not working on new blog (works on old one perfectly) only shows code when posted. Why?
A: On the new post editor, the compose mode will show only codes when published. Use [edit HTML] mode for slides. On old post editor, either the [edit HTML] or the [compose] mode works.

Change font

Q: I can't see the font change after I change it in Advanced. What am I doing wrong?
A: To change font in Advanced in template designer, you have to stipulate where and which text you wish the font to change. It is not possible to change the font for every thing all at once. Select one of these: Page, blog title, blog description, tabs text, date header, post title, gadget tile, gadget text, etc.

Terminology

Q: How do I specify which of my pages I want a post to go under?
A: On Blogger, it is mainly about posts, not pages. Normally you make a new post. It ends up on top of your other posts in reversed chronological order. The number of posts you can make, is almost unlimited. However if you use static pages, you are allowed to have only 10 pages.

Posts
Unlike other blogging platforms (word press, my space, typepad, livejournal, multiply, facebook, orkut, friendster, hi5), on Blogger, we do not call a blog, a blog. We call it a post. When you wish to make a new blog, you should click on "new post". Other wise you would be creating blog after blog with just one post each. That is terrible. No one will read your blogs arranged this way, all over the internet.

1. Sign on to your blog using your ID and password here: www.blogger.com
2. On your dashboard click on "new post"
3. Type inside the post editor (large box) or upload a photo
4. Publish post.

Your blogging area will be filled by your posts as you add more posts (no limit). The side bars are meant for adding gadgets: About me, archives, labels list, link list etc. Continue to add posts to your blog. Please do not create too many blogs today. What you need to do is add more posts to your blog. One blog is usually enough for most new bloggers.

Pages?
This term, as used on Blogger, refers to static pages which appear as tabs under the header: Home, About me, recipes, my blog list, etc.  Static pages 9max 10) have only limited uses on Blogger.

create another static page?
On your dashboard, click on edit posts>>edit pages>>new page
A page editor appears. Create a title for your page, create the page, publish page.
You are allowed to have 10 static Pages. They will appear horizontally, as tabs under your header. The first tab will always be [Home]. You may choose the names for the other tabs e.g. About me, contact me, photos, recipes, my other blogs, etc.

*************
Once you understand the above, you can go one step further. Create an entirely new blog for a new topic. All this can be done under the same account. The limit is 100 blogs per account.

create a blog
On your dashboard, click "create a blog" (top, right hand corner) Most new bloggers are happy with just one blog for a long time. Please try not to create too many blogs today.

Add friends

Q: How do I add friends on Blogger?
A: Blogger is not really a social blogging platform like FaceBook. We don't "add" friends to our blog. You can "follow" a blog if you wish and you can place a follower gadget in the side bar to "allow" others to follow your blog.

If you feel extra generous, you can also add a subscribe gadget in your side bar to allow your viewers to subscribe to your blog. It is listed as feed and subscription links (under gadget>>basic). All viewers need to do is click on these icons and choose the way they wish to receive feeds from your blog. This will activate an email to them every time you make a new post.

Hijackers beware!

mlengela,
This thread is about profile problem and it belongs to some one else (Okie). It is closed, finished, kaput. Tagging along to the end of this thread like this will not serve any useful purpose. It is termed as hijacking, unless you are answering Okie's question above.

You need to start a new thread in order to get any response from other helpers. No one will look here because the helpers will first screen through questions with 0 response. then they look at those with 1, 2, 3, 4 ....replies. This one shows 10. No one will look here for sure.

My blog has been removed

Q: Please let me know the reason for blocking my blog.
A: I tried to view your blog. There was a message saying that your blog has been removed (not blocked). It is therefore not very clear to me what exactly has happened or why.
You will not get an answer from anyone else because, if you are  a spammer, you will learn (from the answer) what not to do in the future and continue your spamming! Blogger won't tell you what they are looking for as the real spammers will immediately work out how to avoid being caught. On the other hand, if you are NOT a spammer, it could mean that the Google robots has removed your blog in error (false +ve). Robots are not well known for explaining why they do things. Either way, you will still not get a satisfactory answer, why your blog is gone.

Here is a link with some explanation:  http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/blogger/thread?tid=35d61124ecd041aa&hl=en No amount of shouting, begging, tears or adrenalin flow will help in this case.
It is a very long and tedious process which may or may not work; but you can have a go if you like.
You should read this and try to do the 4 steps for getting your blog back:

Delete account

Q: How do I deactivate/cancel/close down my Google blog and account?
A: Please read this: http://www.google.com/support/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=41932

delete profile
Please go to your dashboard and click on "edit profile".
un-check all the boxes (including the first item "share my profile"), remove your photo and clear data in all other boxes (replace data with fictitious info if compulsory) Save profile.

Please don't do it. Deleting a blog merely puts it out of reach. It benefits no one. You lost control of it. Make it instead, into a stub blog. First deleting all the posts on it and removing all other personal details. Then leave it. You can always return to it in the future. Here is an example of a stub blog: http://davidchin88.blogspot.com

but if you insist...
delete blog
Sign on using your ID and password here: www.blogger.com
Go to dashboard and click on:
1. settings
2. basic
(under "blog tools" you have 3 options. One of them is "delete blog")
3. delete blog
4. delete this blog
Be aware that the blog address (URL) is now locked and you cannot reuse it again. You have 90 days to change your mind.

Q: Is there an easier way to following?
A: You can add a subscribe gadget in your side bar to allow your viewers to subscribe to your blog. It is listed as feed and subscription links (under gadget>>basic). Formatting problems

Q: Why are the formatting problems in the post editor, not fixed?
A: Most of the formatting problems in the post editor have been identified. Solutions have been found on this forum. We know that Blogger and Microsoft are not compatible:
1. Copy/paste first to Notepad and then copy/paste to the post editor.
2. use the edit HTML mode instead of the compose mode.
