Gadgets fallen down

Q: My side bar gadgets are at the bottom of my posts, Why?
A: gadgets fallen down
Please edit your post: http://www.thehighlandsdc.com/2011/04/highlands-welcomes-groupon.html
At the post editor, toggle between edit HTML and compose tabs, a few times.
Publish post.

Every thing should return to normal.

To identify the post doing the damage:
Click on each post title in turn (start from the latest). The culprit is the first post which does not show gadgets in the side bar. Continue to check a few more older posts. Sometimes there could be more than one.

Missing photos

You seem to have a large number of photos. Please try this method.
Edit each post with missing photos:

On your post editor:
place your cursor at the place of the missing photo
click the photo icon on the tool bar.
Select [from Picasa Web Album]
find the album, find that missing photo, select the photo, [add selected].
the transfer is made instantly, no waiting.
repeat the same for other missing photos on this post
Publish post.

A: Here is a link: http://www.blogger.com/content.g

Blog address taken

Q: I want that blog address; but it was already taken.
A: Please think outside the square. Go alpha numeric (e.g. gordonmc859 dot blogspot dot com) I am certain that this blog address is available. I have over 60 blogs and never had a problem with picking a blog address. Be aware that visitors are attracted to visit your blog because you have interesting and varied contents, not because it has a fancy address. You can always change your blog address later when you think of a good one. Pick any available URL and start blogging today.

However, the good news is this, right now you can still pick that blog name (title) you like, because blog name can be shared; blog address must be unique. Blog name (title) and blog address (URL) are not the same thing.

Change blog name (title)
Please go to settings>>basic>>title.
Make the changes.
Save settings

Change blog address (URL)
settings>>publishing>>Blog*Spot Address
Make changes inside the box.
Save settings

Q: Why do I not have a layout tab?
A: Those of you who do not have the [layout] tab needs to upgrade to the new blogger. It goes like this:

A few of you, may even have to make a legacy claim:

How do I find my blog again?

Q: I started blogging today. How do I find my blog?
A: There is no need for any one to search around to find your blog when they know the address. They can go straight to your blog by pasting your blog address (URL) inside the address bar on a computer and press refresh.

To view your own blog, please click here: http://willowstreetshops.blogspot.com/

However, if you wish to do more than just view your blog, you can because you are the owner (admin). If you wish to work on your blog, to change (edit) something or add a new post, photo or gadget, you will need to sign on here every time: www.blogger.com
The different text colour indicates that it is an active link. If you click on a link here now with your mouse, you are taken instantly to the web address. Book mark this last one or add it to your favourite list. You will need this link to go to your control centre (dashboard)

Other than [Blog this]

Q: Is there another way to upload photos to my blog?
A: There is a work around. Instead of using the [Blog this] button, have you tried using the [Upload button] on Picasa? It is the first button with the green arrow. I used this to upload large numbers of images to Picasa Web Album. It took about 8 seconds per image. I uploaded photos in batches of 25.

From there, it is a breeze to post them to your blog:
On your post editor, click the photo icon on the tool bar as before.
Select [from Picasa Web Album]
Select album, select photos, [add selected]. (The transfer is made instantly, no waiting and no limit on the number of photos selected).
Publish post.

Photo uploading problems

The post editor box can be enlarged by dragging the bottom right corner of the box. This way we can see more clearly when we drag the photos around in that little box. Although I know a lot about photo placement, I find that it is still very difficult to wrap text around the photos like they do in a magazine or newspaper. I like the feature for adding a caption under each photo; but the padding below the caption seems not to be the same for every photo.

Return to recently closed web site

Q: How do I sign in and then get back to the blog I was reading?
A: For Google Chrome:
Click on + to open a new tab. You will see [recently closed] web sites all along the bottom of your screen. Click on them to find the one you were reading.

Test blog

Q: Why can I not move my photos around?
A: Every one else can move their photos around because they tried it first on a test blog. Here is mine: http://davidchin8888.blogspot.com You may take a peek, if you like.
1. Experiment first with a test blog. Perhaps that is what you need to do now: start a test blog. It is free. Blogging is really a personal journey of discovery. If we only have the help forum, then blogging will become too slow for some people. We will be spending too much time asking questions and waiting for answers. This is a slow way of learning, especially for those with a steep learning curve.
2. Help someone else with their problems and in the process learn something new yourself. Try your hand also at posting answers rather than only asking questions on this help forum.

Just in case you do have some more questions like this one; but do not wish to start a test blog, please hover your mouse over my name and click on [FAQ & answers]. Click on "photos" or any label in my labels list. I also have answers for your next 20 questions! If you cannot find the answer there, refer to my blog list at the bottom of the page. We have just found another way of learning about blogger blogs: learn from others who know about blogs; no need to reinvent the wheel. When you have no more questions to ask, read the other answers on the help forum which are marked in green [Best Answer]. These are worth reading.

Delete my blog

Q: I made a blogger blog a long time ago, how do I delete it if I no longer have the email associated with it?
A: Yours is not a new problem. We have numerous requests to delete blogs, daily. Google does not delete unwanted blogs. In fact they do not provide a contact email address or tel No. Volunteer helpers, like me, are bloggers just like you. We have no access or authority to do it for you.

Every blogger has to realize that they are responsible for their own blogs. To manage your blog as an admin, you have to maintain an active email account and record down your password somewhere safe. That's all.

Blank spaces

Q: Large space between the "Posted by..." and "Links to this post Labels:" section at the end of each post.
A: Here is a link with some answers:

Email me/call me

Q: Please email me/call me.
A: It would certainly be nice if one-on-one customer service is available from Google. For now, all we have is this Blogger Help Forum, manned by volunteers who are bloggers, just like yourself.

email me/call me
Volunteer helpers like me, will not call you on your phone or respond to your email directly because the answers will not be seen by other bloggers except you. This defeats the purpose of this forum: we share the answers with all bloggers (45 million world wide). This way the same question will not be asked again and again.

To set up an email alert, (so that you will receive an email, when some one answers your question), please come back to this page, scroll down and check the box under subscribe (Email me when people reply) and click on [save] before you leave this forum.
Why you need to subscribe
The incorrect assumption many people make is that they can easily come back on this help forum to look for replies to their question. This is not true because their thread will be buried under an avalanche of other questions post by other users (45M bloggers) within a matter of days. You need to set up this email alert. Then the replies look for you!

Delete a question

Q: How do I delete my question after it has been answered?
A: Yes, there is a way. You will need to contact and ask the person (who responded to your question) to remove all his replies first. Then you can easily remove your original question.

The idea of setting up this help forum was to share answers to problems with all bloggers. This avoids the same question being asked again on this forum. There is also the question of etiquette. You are happy; but what about the other 43 million other bloggers?

If you are concerned about privacy issues there are other solutions:
1. make your blog private
2. change the URL
3. avoid posting sensitive info on the internet.
