Change post text font/colour

Q: is there an easy way to change all the blog post font colour at once?
A: To change the font of the text in your post:
design>template designer>advanced>page>font/background colour/text colour
To save changes, click [apply to blog]

New blog gone!

Q: Where is my new blog?
A: It is a long story. The short version is : the Google robots got your blog. The easy way out is to accept your lost and create another blog with a new blog address (URL). You can use the same blog name again.

If you are interested in the long story, please read this and try to do the 4 steps for getting your blog back:

The chance of success is only 50% on a good day; but it is your dime.

I want my URL back

Q:  I deleted my blog and switched my google account and no longer have access to the blog url. What do I need to do in order to get the url re-activated?
A: That is correct. Deleting a blog is a sure way of putting the URL out of reach of every one, including yourself. You need to [undelete] your blog on your dashboard within 90 days.

To access your dashboard again, you need to back track and re-establish your account. This will not be easy because only a Google team member can do this for you. There is no direct contact available, no help desk, no email, no tel No.

Starting a new account is easy but you will not be able to manage your old blog with it. To maintain control of a blog, convert it into a stub blog; never delete the blog or the account associated with it. Yours is a very common problem on this help forum. Many people assume  that deleting a blog is the end of the story. It certainly is NOT.

Note:
To set up an email alert, (so that you will receive an email, when some one answers your question), please come back to this page, scroll down and check the box under subscribe (Email me when people reply) and click on [save] before you leave this forum.

The other incorrect assumption people make is that they can easily come back on this help forum to look for replies to their question. This is not true because their thread will be buried under an avalanche of other questions post by other users (43M bloggers) within a matter of days. You need to set up this email alert. Then the replies look for you!

Cannot find my blog

Q: How do I put my blog online?
A: You have 3 posts on your blog. It is so new that you cannot google it. That is normal. You need to build up google ranking first by making more posts so that the search engines have a chance to index your blog. In the meantime you or your friends can view it at any time. Paste the URL inside the address bar and click refresh. Or if you wish to edit your blog with the intention of adding a gadget, new post or changing an existing post, please sign on with your ID and password here: www.blogger.com (click this link)

New Blogger

Q: What is [new blogger]?
A: The new blogger is the last one on this list, after last year's upgrade by Google:
template>customize>layout>design
It has many new features:
1. using the updated post editor which places photos at your cursor position.
2. has a monetize tab which simplifies adding Adsense ads to your blog.
3. allows you to customize your template without fiddling with html codes:
design>template designer>advanced
4. you can add static pages as horizontal tabs

All of them were [New Blogger] at one time, depending on your time frame.

[About me] gadget

http://noelenejenkinson.blogspot.com/

This blog has a very innovative way of showing the [About me] gadget, using a text gadget and a link to the profile. The other ways are:
1. normal way using an [About me] profile gadget in the side bar
2. using a static page, as a button
3. using a text gadget and a link to the profile.

Posting picture neatly

Q: How do you post pictures neatly?
A:
1. Experiment first with a test blog. Perhaps that is what you need to do now: start a test blog. It is free. Blogging is really a personal journey of discovery. If we only have the help forum, then blogging will become too slow. We will be spending too much time asking questions and waiting for answers. This is a slow way of learning, especially for those with a steep learning curve.
2. Help someone else with their problems and in the process learn something new yourself. Try your hand also at posting answers rather than only questions on this help forum.

Just in case you do have some more questions like this one, please hover your mouse over my name and click on [FAQ & answers] and click on sticky post in my labels list. I also have answers for your next 50 questions! If you cannot find the answer there, refer to my blog list at the bottom of the page. We have just found another way of learning about blogger blogs: learn from others who know about blogs; no need to reinvent the wheel. When you have no more questions to ask, read the other answers on the help forum which are marked in green [Best Answer]. These are worth reading.

[Show all] button

Q: Where is the location of the [Show all] button?
A: It is at the bottom of your dashboard just above your Reading list.

Blogger vs Wordpress

New blog writers everywhere are faced with a serious dilemma when they first reach the Internet and must decide which blogging platform is best for their new website. There are actually dozens of options on the market, ranging from the basic blog settings of the social networks to the self-hosted open sources software solutions.
However, for most new bloggers and those who don't want to pay for their blog, the choice boils down to one of two websites: Blogger and Wordpress. These two services have become synonymous in recent years with the blogging phenomenon, making up a massive percentage of the Internet's most popular blogs. For that reason, there has been a bit of discussion over which service is better.

Picture frame

Q: How do I put the frame around my pictures that I am posting..like an outline around the photos?
A: design>template designer>advanced>images>background colour/border colour
Choose your colours

Please delete my blog

Q: How do I delete an old blog that is archived that is coming up when I do a google search for my name?
A: Blogspot user interface is not very intuitive or clear. There are a number of situations where what should be the obvious thing to do, is actually not the correct thing to do e.g. deleting a blog merely puts it out of your reach! If you do not want a blog any more, it is much better to make it into a stub blog and retain control of your blog.

Blogger accounts and Blog*Spot addresses do not expire. You must record down your own ID's and passwords for managing your account(s). Otherwise there is no one available who will delete these blogs for you because you are responsible for your own blogs and must manage them yourself. Your problem is very common because Google tends to encourage the creation of new accounts and many unwary users, like yourself, have fallen into this trap.

It has now become obvious to me that you own more than one account. One with 1 blog and another with 3 blogs. You may even have more! The solution is very simple. All you need to do now, is sort them out and sign on to the correct dashboard to gain access to the account to manage(not delete) your blogs. Please use these links to recover your sign-on details:

Larger post editor.

Q: I would like to see a much bigger editing area.
A: The feature is already there. You can drag the bottom right corner down to make your post editor larger.

Restore my blog!

Q: How can I restore my blog? if I am in violation it wasn't intentional I'll do what you ask. Call me or email me with your replies.
A: There should be a link in your dashboard to request a review. Seems like the Google robots got your blog. You should read this and try to do the 4 steps, mentioned here, for getting your blog back:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/blogger/thread?tid=2bd8ad2932edafa2&hl=en

You will not get a straight answer from anyone here because, if you are a spammer, you will learn (from the answer) what not to do in the future and continue your spamming! Google won't tell you what they are looking for, as the real spammers will also be watching for this and immediately figure out how to avoid being caught in the future.

On the other hand, if you are NOT a spammer, it could mean that the Google robots have removed your blog in error (false +ve). Robots are not well known for explaining why they do things. Either way, you will still not get a satisfactory answer as to, why your blog has been classified as spam and removed.

email me/call me
Helpers will not call you on your phone or email you directly because the answers will not be shared by other bloggers except you. This defeats the purpose of this forum: we share the answers with all bloggers (45 million). This way the same question will not be asked again and again.

To set up an email alert, (so that you will receive an email, when some one answers your question), please come back to this page, scroll down and check the box under subscribe (Email me when people reply) and click on [save] before you leave this forum.

Clickable link

Q: Why is my link not clickable on Blogger Help Forum?
A: Your links will become clickable when you reach level 5. This is purely for stopping spammers making posts on the help forum.

Change size of You Tube video

Q: How do I change the coding to make the You Tube video posting smaller?

A: What you need is a test blog to try out the results. I changed some of the parameters, near the bottom, in your codes, from 425x344 to 350x250 (wxh)
Here is what I get: http://davidchin8888.blogspot.com/2011/03/344x425-hxw.html

Add friends

Q: How do I add friends on Blogger?
A: Blogger is not really a social blogging platform like FaceBook. We don't "add" friends to our blog.
You can "follow" a blog if you wish and you can also place a follower gadget in the side bar to "allow" others to follow your blog. If you feel extra generous, you can also add a subscribe gadget in your side bar to allow your viewers to subscribe to your blog. It is listed as feed and subscription links (under gadget>>basic). All viewers need to do is click on these icons and choose the way they wish to receive feeds from your blog. This will activate an email alert to them every time you make a new post or edit post.

Update your profile interest list. Each word becomes a link which allows other bloggers with similar interests to find your blog and for you to find theirs. You do this by clicking on words in your own interest list on your profile e.g. fashion, cooking, golf, photography...

When you are reading an interesting blog, leave a comment (using your Google profile). Look at that blogger's list of blogs that he follows (on his profile). Leave genuine and sincere comments on those blogs as well. Leaving comments like this will attract more readers to your own blog (via your Google profile).

Recycle URL

Q: I deleted my Google account and my blog is gone. How do I use my URL again?
A: The assumption you have made here is incorrect. After deleting a blog, the URL is locked and not available for re-use by any one, for a period of 90 days. If you do not wish to wait, you can undelete your blog and change the URL to something else. Then the URL can be used immediately again on a new blog.

The problem here is how to access your blog to undelete it, when you have already deleted your Google account. Simple. You need to back tract and undo what you have done!

First you reinstate your Google account. This is not so simple because only a Google team member can do it for you. Mostly, they are not around on this forum. Good luck!
Then you sign on as usual with your ID and password here:www.blogger.com

Blog used for training a new blogger

Q: I wish to admin a blog and at same time allow someone else also to participate in doing it also as a trainee. How?
A: Blogs are free and expendable. Create a new blog to be made into a team blog for training purposes only. Invite your trainee to be an author. (The trainee having his own email address and his own password. Never share your own password with any one, especially a minor)

settings>>permission>>add author
When the trainee responds, you upgrade his status to admin. Now your team blog has 2 admins. No matter what the trainee does, you are not at risk. Worse case scenario, he removes you as admin and you lose control of the team blog. Create another new team blog and continue the training!
